Latirium Co. Ltd. has announced plans to develop a state-of-the-art 350-bed hospital in Africa, marking a major step forward in addressing critical healthcare infrastructure gaps across the continent. The project will include a first-of-its-kind specialized burns treatment unit, designed to deliver advanced care for complex trauma and burn injuries.
The planned facility represents a total investment of approximately $120 million, covering construction, medical equipment, and operational setup. Once completed, the hospital is expected to serve a population of over 2 million people, significantly improving access to high-quality medical services in the region. The initiative aligns with Latirium’s broader strategy of developing high-impact infrastructure in emerging markets by integrating financing, design, and execution into a single, coordinated framework.
At the core of the project is a specialized burns treatment center, addressing a critical gap in medical capabilities across many African countries. The unit will be designed to meet international clinical standards and will include advanced intensive care isolation rooms, dedicated surgical theaters for reconstructive procedures, and capabilities for skin grafting and regenerative treatments. The facility will also incorporate infection-controlled recovery environments and specialized rehabilitation services, enabling comprehensive long-term care. This development is expected to significantly reduce the need for medical evacuations abroad for severe burn cases.
Latirium will lead the project through its integrated development model, combining project structuring, financial engineering, and execution management. The company is working closely with international medical equipment providers, engineering firms, and healthcare operators to ensure that the hospital is delivered to global standards from the outset. This coordinated approach allows for efficient implementation while maintaining strict quality and compliance requirements.
The project is expected to generate significant economic and social benefits, including the creation of more than 500 direct jobs during both the construction and operational phases. It will also support local capacity building through medical training and knowledge transfer, strengthen national healthcare systems, and contribute to long-term economic development.
Construction is anticipated to begin following the completion of final structuring and partnership agreements, with an estimated development timeline of 24 to 30 months. Upon completion, the hospital is expected to become a regional center of excellence for advanced medical treatment.
